City Chefs Clean for a Cause

On September 23rd, 2006, more than a dozen of the city’s top chefs hit the beach as part of the TD Canada Trust Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. In a joint effort, chefs from the Ocean Wise program worked to remove harmful litter from one of Vancouver’s most popular beaches, Sunset Beach at English Bay, to help preserve the many species of wildlife on the shoreline. Together, they participated in one of the last cleanups to take place across Canada in a national event that ran for one week.

A Vancouver Aquarium Conservation Initiative, this annual event organizes thousands of volunteers across the country to clean up their local beaches. Last year’s event resulted in the removal of more than 10,000 bags of beach litter from Tofino to St. John’s.
